The end of the semester is approaching quickly. As such, it is almost time for ACCOUNTING CLUB EXECUTIVE BOARD ELECTIONS!
The Accounting Club is unique among student organizations because while it is registered as a UNI student group, it also represents the recruiting arm of the Department of Accounting. As such, how the Executive Board presents itself to recruiters, alumni, and students reflects greatly upon the department. Thus, you should only consider running for an officer position if you are willing to work to your utmost potential and meet the qualifications for the executive board positions spelled out below. Also, club members only hold office once on the executive team to give our over 200 members a greater chance of leadership experience.
Elections will be held on Tuesday, December 9, during a fun event involving the Advisory Council, the faculty, and you! More will be announced soon.
Discussed below are the five (5) Accounting Club Executive Board positions open for the 2025 calendar year. They encompass a President with four Vice Presidents of varied divisions, requiring unique strengths.
Here are the prerequisites you need to meet to run for office. You must:
1. Be a current club member in good standing.
2. Be enrolled full-time ON-CAMPUS for both the Spring ’26 and Fall ’26 semesters. You can be involved in anything you want during the summer- but you CANNOT be doing an internship during either the Spring ’26 or Fall ’26 semester.
3. Prepare in advance and present a two to three-minute speech on election night that spells out why you are the most appropriate candidate for your chosen office.
4. You must be enrolled in at least Intermediate 1 at some point during your tenure as President or VP. For instance, you’d be eligible if you were taking Principles of Managerial in the Spring of 2026 and Intermediate 1 in the Fall of 2026. If you aren’t at least enrolled in Intermediate 1 by Fall 2026, then consider serving in one of the Director’s roles discussed below, which have no experience or grade-level requirement.
5. Be ready to work hard and earn great rewards!
UNI Accounting Club Executive Board members gain great exposure to firms and recruiters. If you’ve been wondering how you can stand out among your peers in the accounting program, this is it!
If you are interested in running for office, send me an email nominating yourself (specify the position for which you’d like to run). This year we are again limiting the number of offices for which you run, to ONE. Nominations are due by Friday, November 28, by 5 pm.
I will be serving as faculty advisor for the Accounting Club, so you’ll also be working with me as well as other faculty. I’d be happy to visit with you regarding any of the positions and/or if you see one of the current officers talk to them. The current officers will be hosting a board interest night on Tuesday, November 18th, to answer any questions you may have. Details of the meeting will be forthcoming.
